                             Mrs. Tippits’ Good News in Rm #61

Monday, Sept. 3          No School Labor Day!

                                                                  In reading this week we will introduce the letters Dd, Gg, Ii, and Ff.        

                                                                  We will be doing the beginning and ending sound of each and

                                                                  learning how to write them.  The sight words we will focus on will

                                                                  be I, see, and a.

                                                                  In math we will work on the numbers 1-5.

                                                                  In writing we will work on writing an informational book about

                                                                  their family.

                                                                  Our theme this week is senses; we will discuss how they explore the

                                                                  world through their sense of sight, touch, smell, taste and feel.

 Thursday, Sept. 6      letter worksheet

 

 Friday, Sept. 7          Poem Book coming home; it has the poem we have

                                           done all week in it.  Practice those sight words.

I have begun testing for sight words.  The list your child is on is coming home with them to practice.  I will test again soon.

                                                           

Our reading program has begun; I am sending home a reading log for everyone.  Try to do 1 hour of reading this week and write it down and return to school.  Happy ReadingJ

Monday, Aug. 27        Yellow Day!  

                                                                 The next two weeks we will be focusing on colors.  We will do

                                                                 one each day.  Try to wear that color and we will eat a snack of that

                                                                 color and learn a song.  Snack will be provided by parents who have

                                                                 volunteered.

                                                                  In reading this week we will introduce the letters; Nn, Pp, Cc and

                                                                  Aa.  We will be doing the beginning and ending sound of each and

                                                                  learning how to write them.  The sight words we will focus on will

                                                                  be the color words, red, blue, yellow.  In math we will sort objects        

                                                                  by attributes. 

                                                                  In writing we will work on writing informational books.

                                                                  Homework; practice writing their name

                                             

Tuesday, Aug. 28         Brown Day! 

                                        I am sending home a copy of the color songs if you would like to

                                                                  learn them with your child.

                                

Wednesday, Aug. 29   White Day!

                                        Practice oral counting; see how far he/she can go

 

 Thursday, Aug, 30      Black Day!

                                        Draw something that begins with the letter that is in the box.

 

 Friday, Aug. 31            Green Day!

                         Poem Book coming home; it has the poem we have

                                               done all week in it.  See if your child can say their name in the

                                               poem and then say it by changing the beginning sound.

                                                            *book orders are due/yellow High Five sheets

                                                                  Tt.  We will be doing the beginning and ending sound of each and

                                                                  learning how to write them.  The sight words we will focus on will

                                                                  be the color words, red, blue, yellow.  In math we will discuss the

                                                                  following vocabulary, same, similar, identical, and different.  In

                                                                  writing we will discuss the jobs of author and illustrator through

                                                                  Eric Carle books.

                                                                  Homework; ask your child to sing the red song

                                             

Tuesday, Aug. 21         Blue Day! 

                                        Practice writing name; trace 2x’s and write once on your own.

                                

Wednesday, Aug. 22   Pink Day!

                                        Have your child practice sorting something around the house; ex.       

                                                                  socks, silverware, or shoes.

 

 Thursday, Aug, 23      Purple Day!

                                         If interested, I am asking that each child bring in a family picture

                                                                  that we could put around the room to help make the children feel

                                                                  more at home.  You can send it in a frame or not.

 

 Friday, Aug. 24            Orange Day!

       Kindergarten Parent Breakfast 9:15 to 10: 30am  Primary Library

                                               done all week in it.  See if your child can pick

                                               out the sight words; red, blue, and yellow.   

 

 

  • Monday Aug. 27th is yellow day
  • Smoke Signal came home today and it will contain this newsletter, other notes from school and usually their work that they have done from the previous week.  Please look over their work and praise all the good things they have done and go over any areas they may need to work on.  Thank you! J
